The Fall In Höchst - Frankfurt, Germany

The Restaurant Alte Zollwache

The Restaurant Alte Zollwache

One of the nice restaurants at the square is called the "Alte Zollwache" (Old Customs).
Perhaps just here passengers and ship crews used to have their meals - who knows. I don't think, however, that this restaurant is so old.

Nevertheless, it is quite possible as the history of the neighbouring restaurant "Zum Bären" goes back to 1799.
You can taste hier Frankfurts culinary specialities - Grüne Soße, Handkäs mit Musik, Rippchen mit Kraut.

A Bench

A Bench

The little town is proud of its history.
Three Nobel Prize winners are connected with Höchst; Goethe dined in one of local restaurants. Pyramidon was invented in Höchst and Ludwig Erhard made here the first steps to social market economy.

Napoleon spent the night in the Bolongaro palace of Höchst on his way from his defeat by Leipzig. It was his last night east of Rhine.
Was he seating on this bench? Who knows, who knows...
